August 19, 2022:  Logo Explanation- Guide Dog/Service Dog

This Friday we are discussing the last part of our logo, featured at the bottom left.  Going clockwise around the face of the penny is a brailler, support cane, refreshable braille display, and a service dog.  Service dogs or guide dogs are used to help guide people who are blind or visually impaired.  Dogs are usually bred by the companies that train them.  The most common breeds used are German Shepherds, Labrador and Golden Retrievers, and Standard Poodles.  Dogs are trained to follow commands, walk around obstacles, stop at curbs, and “disobey only in the face of danger.”  People who are using the guide dogs must also go through training to learn the proper commands and how to work with and care for their dog.  To learn more about guide dogs, please visit https://www.guidedog.org/GD/About/FrequentlyAskedQuestions/GD/About_Us/frequentlyaskedquestions.aspx?hkey=c0029558-be15-4ade-9a8a-47998518a21e#Breeds.  We hope you enjoyed learning about our logo!  Stay tuned next Friday to learn more about our foundation!
